King Edward Quay is a project funded by B-Sure and Essex County Council, A
co-operative international
effort
to improve the
quality
of life in town and port areas. This was a project
we felt privalidged
to be
a part of. An abundance
of dedication and commitment was injected into
this scheme from a very early
stage to ensure the finished
project was flawless, in retrospect
it is. What was once a dilapidated old quay
is now a contempory
space where people can enjoy the river and relax.
Phase one began in October 2006 and completed January 2007, accounting for 25%
of the scheduled
works. Phase 2 is due to start in
September 2008.
Ducting was installed below ground to service new lighting
columns, new water distribution bollards
and
new electric distribution bollards. Birco drainage channel, granite
kerb, asphalt and 1450 square
meter of Mistral/Tegula paving completed the groundworks
with a selection of stainless steel street
furniture
to compliment the already impressive project.
